Sargent Fund
The Sargent Foundation for Episcopal Ministries
One of two substantial foundations created by the late Newell B. Sargent of Worland, Wyoming, the Sargent Foundation for Episcopal Ministries is dedicated to promoting the Episcopal Church of the United States of America as it operates in the Diocese of Wyoming. It is governed by a board of three directors, Charles W. Smith of Casper, Wyoming, the Rt. Rev. John S. Smylie of Casper, Wyoming and John E. Masters of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
During his lifetime Mr. Sargent had emphasized education and strongly supported Episcopal seminarians, the Cathedral Home for Children, and HR Wilderness Camp. While the Foundation has continued this work, it has also supported the improvement of Episcopal church facilities throughout the Diocese of Wyoming.
Applications for Sargent Grants may be made throughout the year but currently it operates on an annual cycle. Applications received prior to July 1 of each year are handled by the Board at its October/November meeting and funded in the following year. Applications should be submitted to the Episcopal Foundation of Wyoming using its combined grant application form.
